Beretta 686 White Onyx
As an avid skeet shooter, I have recently had the wonderful experience of shooting a new Beretta 686 White Onyx. As a semi-automatic shooter with limited experience in shooting an over and under, this was an entirely new thing for me. Now before I get pitched under the bus for not including all the specs or that kind of thing, understand I am not a professional, just a guy that loves to shoot.
Let me first begin by saying that this is a visual appealing gun. Opening the blue plastic case, it was like being a 5 year old at Christmas opening the latest GI Joe.
The gun comes with various chokes, recoil pad, and gun oil. I have the personal opinion that it would be nice to have it come in something other than a blue plastic case. Call me crazy, but if you spend $1400 to $2000 for a gun you would hope that it would come in something a little better than a molded plastic case.
However, the gun itself is beautiful. Excellent wood stock and fore-grip with the silver receiver finish makes a perfect presentation. Nice scroll work and accents on the receiver set off the coloring of the stock and the barrels.
Once the gun is assembled, you first notice how light and agile the gun feels in your hand. It feels like a sprinter getting ready to jump out of the block. The Beretta has an integrated safety and barrel selector on the back of the receiver that is in my opinion in the perfect spot. The gun shoots like a dream, quick to the shoulder and accurate. I was shooting the 12 ga version and after a full day of shooting and a case of shells, I was still a happy camper. I will say that I had some black and blue spots the following day and a grin on my face.
I give it 9 out of 10 stars.

Am curious if your gun looks like my brother in laws….My youngest son was borrowing it to shoot trap and it is starting to show a little wear on the wood at what I would call the end of the pistol grip? Brother in law is kind of blaming the young son but I have watched how he handles this gun and I am blaming it on that Blue Plastic Case. Just curious…can send pics if needed. Thanks, Brian
Dude, for 1800 $ I don’t think that they would put bad wood on the gun. (Maybe the kid held it wrong)
I have had mine for 1 year, shooting sporting clays and really like it, after shooting a 391 for 5 years. Mine has 32 inch barrels.
The wood rub problem probably comes from not tightening the velcro strap tight enough. on the barrells, be sure to use the foam spacer at barrell end to keep it from sliding back and forth.
My wood is nice but not extravagent, and holds up to rain and sweat very well.
